Karen M. Rudo, M.D. is a board-certified ophthalmologist who performs eye exams, cataract and laser surgery and management of glaucoma, diabetic eye disease & macular degeneration.
Dr Rudo grew up in Southwestern Pennsylvania and attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Bioengineering, Magna Cum Laude, and a Master's Degree in Biotechnology. While attending Drexel University College of Medicine in Philadelphia, Dr. Rudo had two years of clinical training at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. Following graduation from Medical School, Dr. Rudo completed her Internship Year at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown, Ohio. She completed her Residency in Ophthalmology in Cleveland, Ohio, with University Hospitals - Case Western Reserve University, learning the most modern and innovative eye surgery and laser techniques. During residency, she was also a surgeon at St. Vincent's Charity Hospital, the Louis Stokes VA Medical Center at Wade Park, and volunteered at the Free Medical Clinic of Greater Cleveland. During her last year of residency, Dr. Rudo traveled to Hyderabad, India to gain broader exposure to the surgical treatment of advanced eye diseases and trauma at the prestigious L. V. Prasad Eye Institute.
